Covid-19 Safety Restrictions

Unfortunately, this must be on the top of our list because it is unavoidable and it has affected everyone. We don’t know where the pandemic will be come Summer and we do not know how the restrictions will change. Changes are constantly being made so a great way to prepare yourself is that you inform yourself of the precautions of the country. The staff at 1926 Hotel and Spa will always be ready to help you in any way we can because all we want is for your stay to be great and effortless during your holiday in Malta. The best way to stay safe is to prevent any unnecessary harm so always be prepared, take tests before you travel and have all the necessary documentation ready.

Where to Go?

One of the biggest issues when going abroad is not knowing where to go during your holiday in Malta, luckily we are here for you! Malta and Gozo are two very small islands, so everything is condensed into a tiny island. In them being small, it does not mean that they are empty. On the other hand, the island and its sister island are full of life, character and colour! Be sure to use your time well and visit all the key locations and landmarks in order for you to get the best out of your stay.

Valletta

The capital city is one of the most precious things the island has. Built around 400 years ago by the grandmaster of the knight’s hospitallers, the city was built to defend against any invaders out of necessity. Malta used to get invaded very frequently because a lot of nations wanted to seize Malta for their own due to its prime location and natural harbours.

For many Malta was either a doorway to Europe or Africa, depending on where you are from. That being said, walking into Valletta is like walking in a city frozen in time. The bastions the harbour the architecture is truly something to behold. If you are a fan of history or culture in general Valletta is the place to be.

In the city, there are also amazing locations for you to visit if you enjoy art, food and music. The city is filled with life and energy that does not compare to anywhere on the island. Valletta has a famous street called, Strait Street, this is full of bars and restaurants for you to visit and explore. Obviously, due to the Coronavirus, there are restrictions on bars and restaurants and curfews that certain establishments must follow, and these must be adhered to.

The coast of Valletta also offers beautiful views and ferry rides to either near us during your holiday in Malta 1926 Hotel and Spa, Sliema or the Three Cities.

Sliema

This is where 1926 Hotel and Spa is. We are proud of our village and what it has to offer to our guests. Sliema is an amazing hotspot if you love shopping. Tigne Point shopping mall is a great place if you are looking to spend some money on clothing and all along the promenade are a variety of shops and restaurants for you to choose from.

If you are not into shopping, you can always go for a walk next to the sea and all the way to either Manoel island or St Julians. This is a very peaceful walk, you can also rent a bike or scooter if you wish and use that as a form of travel to go round faster. Sliema also offers many different locations to swim. The water is beautiful and the view of the city from outside is also a sight to behold.

Three Cities

On the other side of the capital city are the three cities. These cities are older than Valletta but built for the same reason. These are very old and time-frozen cities, walking through them will make you feel like you are walking through the ages. It is a beautiful experience and these places also have their own restaurants and bars for you to choose from. The walk is also something to behold so be sure to spare some time and enjoy the city and the walk.

Nightlife

With this article here at 1926 Hotel and Spa, we are trying to prepare you for your trip as best we can for your holiday in Malta. This next location is a bit tentative due to the nature of the circumstances we find ourselves in but it is always worth a mention. One of the main attractions of Malta is its nightlife, the lights the drinks, the music the whole atmosphere is here and it is undoubtedly very attractive. Paceville has bar after bar after bar stacked next to each other which nightclubs also stacked next to each other and they are free!

Unfortunately, currently, they are closed due to restrictions until further notice and there is no saying when they will be open. Paceville is always worth mentioning because it is truly such an amazing and unique experience. The people you meet, both locals and tourists all have a story to tell and each bar will be full of people on Friday and Saturday nights especially, but in Summer all day can be a party if you want it to be! As mentioned prior, Strait Street also falls under this category because of the number of clubs, but if the restrictions are lifted by Summer these two locations are where you should be.

Gozo

1926 Hotel and Spa is all about having the comfort and efficiency of your stay. We enjoy the peace of mind that comes with accommodation, but if you enjoy peace of mind then Malta’s sister island Gozo is somewhere else you should visit. In our quest to prepare you, Gozo should be on the top of your list when visiting Malta and missing this opportunity will be something you will regret.

Gozo is a quieter less busy island that has everything Malta has but on a smaller scale. Smaller beaches, smaller villages, a small nightlife but still amazing and beautiful. Going there is very inexpensive and even if you go up by car it won’t cost you much. The cost is worth the beautiful sights and views you will get from Gozo. The food is as Maltese as you can get and it is tasteful and amazing!

Preparation is Key!

1926 Hotel and Spa is constantly trying to prepare you to have a great holiday in Malta. Our staff is ready to aid you in any way we can, all you have to do is ask. Our blog is constantly talking about what to do, where to go etc. Malta is a very magical place and it is important that you do not waste your time when visiting. Always stay safe and read the restriction guidelines as these are imperative for your experience here. Be mindful of how you meet and where to go, for not as it is currently, it is best to avoid people and large areas but that is not a problem for Malta. There are plenty of hikes and walks that you and your bubble can go, visit establishments that are covid safe and be mindful!
